Swans vs Escorts Match Report 6/0…the score says it all

Date: Mon 22nd September

Venue: Oxford & Cambridge Club

Result: Swans 6 – Escorts 0

Match manager: Andrew Clark

Dear Swans and Escorts,

Please correct me if I have any scores wrong.

The 6/0 score says it all. A highly motivated Swans team prevailed against a variety of Escorts’ talent. Hopefully, the Escorts will do better in the return fixture.

Apparently slimline Curtis was too strong for Maclean despite the latter’s 25 year advantage. Gemmell made a good game of it vs Sibley but was not flattered by the English scoring; winning actual points looked like a real struggle.  Phey overpowered Raju but there is loads of scope for improvement (ie. Get your opponent into the back corners and get your racket up!). The greatest talent was on display in Kynoch vs Winter. Lovely touch and delay. Winter did well to close the match out in 5 against his formidable opponent. Another apparently slimline player, Eaton, proved too strong for Campion. The most athleticism was seen in Simpson vs White. Simpson played bash and dash, as usual. Unfortunately, the bash and dash was also loose, over-hit and fast but predictable. White not only matched Simpson’s movement but was consistently more accurate. White also produced some exquisite and demoralising volley kills. Simpson did well to pull a game back in the 3rd but at no stage looked in control. A great effort by Simpson but back to the drawing board technically and tactically.
